Sturgeon Recovery Planning

To ensure that efforts toward recovery of white sturgeon are applied in the best possible way, a plan was created that identifies goals and recommends methods for achieving them. To view the plan's Table of Contents to access sections of interest to you, click on the relevant tab. You may also download the entire plan. Recovery planning began after a review of upper Columbia white sturgeon found that young fish were becoming alarmingly rare. In August 2000, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, British Columbia's former Environment and Fisheries ministries, and BC Hydro signed an agreement that led to the formation of the UCWSRI.

The original recovery plan is currently being revised and will be available on this site by the spring sturgeon release.
